Project Details:
Contract: Gilford Riverside Trail
Client : Armagh Banbridge & Craigavon District Council
Value Range: 500k – £1M
Project details
The Contract was for the provision of a Riverside Trail along the River Bann at Gilford.
The works comprised of the provision of platform structures and a footbridge, all framed in steel with timber decking; decorative concrete paths with gabion support and timber railing; Corten panel entrance features and signage; amenity lighting; street furniture; stone walling and repairs; grassing, planting and seeding works.
The project was both environmentally and historically sensitive in nature due to its location within the Bann corridor and adjacent to Gilford Mill which historically dates back to 19th century.
This project in its delivery has created an 845m riverside walking & cycling trail through a short section of walkway over the remains of an old millrace. The route passes over part of the old millrace & land between the river Bann & an infilled mill pond which now connects the Stramore Road with Woodlands Park. Many complexities were overcome by our experienced site team to ensure its successful delivery & hand over.
