Dromara Destroyers Tribute Garden
Project Details:
LCC Council worked in partnership with the local motorcycling club to develop a tribute Garden in Dromara Village. The garden recognises the achievements of the ‘Dromara Destroyers’ who were a group of local motorcyclists who participated in the competitive racing throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The motor bike sports sector is well represented throughout Ireland and a tribute such as this aims to draw motorcycle enthusiasts to the village, increasing tourism.
The construction works included the transportation to site and installation of four stone plinths including appropriate foundations; the erection of four bronzed busts and other decorative bronzed features on the plinths; installation of lighting at the base of the plinths; erection of a boundary wall; paving to a small area surrounding the plinths and some soft landscaping.
Works were carried out in a live environment i.e. an area in front of a playpark. Park was safely secured from the works area to prevent access and pose no risk to children, with a new temporary plyapark access route established for the duration of the works.
