AG Wilson inspires young minds with BeSafe Bert
In a bid promote safety awareness and inspire the engineers of tomorrow, AG Wilson embarked on an educational visit to Crawfordsburn primary school, accompanied by our friendly safety mascot BeSafe Bert.
Bert, a friendly, hard-hatted character with a passion for safety, proved to be a hit among the young P1 & P2 audience. During the visit, the children were treated to a range of interactive activities and they had the chance to dress up for the job.
"Our goal is to inspire young minds and most importantly show them that safety is paramount in and also near construction sites" said Paddy O’Boyle a civil engineer at AG Wilson who will be overseeing upcoming works at Crawfordsburn. "By introducing the children to BeSafe Bert and involving them in interactive activities, we hope to instil a lifelong appreciation for safety and construction."
The event concluded with a spot the difference session which was great fun as the children enthusiastically voiced their observations. Each student received a hi-vis vest, construction party hard hat and an activity pack as a token of the day's activities.
Next week, AG Wilson will be mobilising on site with works consisting of construction of a new 1.8m diameter CSO chamber on Main Street, Crawfordsburn and a new peak screen fitted within this chamber. This will allow additional volumes to be retained and screened before being discharged into the local rivers during storm events. With these works occurring in relatively close proximity to the school, this education visit, organised by AG Wilson, was aimed at introducing the children to the world of civil engineering while emphasising the importance of safety in construction.
These educational visits serve as a testament to the power of community engagement in shaping young minds and communicating site safety awareness.
