MCCULLA DIGESTER PLANT
This project consists of the design development, construction and project management of a 500kW Anaerobic Digester (AD) Plant.
Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is the process which involves the breakdown of organic material by bacteria in an oxygen-free environment to create biogas. Agricultural slurry waste and feedstock will be used in the AD process plant. Arable crops and grass material is fed into a digester which contains bacteria. The digester is a closed container and contains zero oxygen. The biogas produced is used for heat and power generation and the process residue will then be used as a fertiliser to grow more feedstock.
Working as the lead Joint Venture partner with a German Process partner and a local Civil Engineering consultant, AG Wilson used standard German designs as a basis for the site specific design which was sympathetic to the urban industrial site. The design required consideration for the surrounding residents and also certain local planning restrictions which had been imposed.
