This project for Mid Ulster Council was undertaken as a Joint Venture between A.G.Wilson Ltd to deliver Civil Engineering works & MSM Contracts to provide the new-build Castle Hill Events Space.
Civil Engineering works on this major redevelopment project in Dungannon, involved provision of an extensive linear path stretching across 11 site locations around the historic Hill of O’Neill with works including provision of link road to a Carpark, LED amenity lighting, controlled pedestrian crossings, development of a pedestrian and cycle path network, pipe culverts and drainage, upgrading of existing paths and carpark, signage and information pillars, fencing and associated landscape works.
Overall, the contract consisted in providing close to 8000m2 of new road ways and pathways; this involved the surfacing of all with base layers and wearing course. Over 30000 tonne of granular fill was imported and compacted to make up various specifications of sub-base.
Over 3260m of ducting and cabling was provided on this project including the installation of 100 lighting columns and LED heads. 4 NIE connections where provided for new lighting, 2 controlled pedestrian and installation of 8 uncontrolled pedestrian crossings.
This contract also included provision of 1000m of Road markings with 800m2 of high friction surfacing & pedestrian tactile pavers. A 40m long reinforced concrete retaining wall was constructed along with 150m long 2.4m high reinforced retaining wall. 300m of Gabion basket retaining wall were also provided to various heights. Landscaping to a total area over 20000m2 included the planting of over 1300 trees and bushes.
